American Airlines has purchased credits equivalent to 10,000 tons of carbon removal from a startup called Graphyte. Graphyte uses a process called carbon casting to remove CO2 from the atmosphere. Plant material that has captured carbon dioxide through photosynthesis is converted into bricks that won't decompose and are then stored underground.
