This bumbed me out since I had previously read that this was an indication that it was a Saginaw not a Muncie. It does have a 7 bolt side cover. Doe this mean it's still an M22 but just manufactured at the Saginaw assembly plant or it's not an M22 "Rock Crusher Transmission". I am just learning !

I believe all first gen Z/28s were available with only the close ratio Muncies. This would be the M21, which most had, and the M22 which very few had. You're right about the guy being way off. Guys always say they've got a rock crusher when they are refering to any Muncie, there are big differences as we know. The M20 is a great trans though.
